"Know the law, but master the facts."
John J. Kilkenny has over thirty six years of litigation, arbitration and mediation experience as outside counsel, in-house counsel, consultant and general counsel at large and small broker dealers in New York City, San Francisco and Chicago. He began his business career after an Honorable Discharge from the U. S. Army and attended Brooklyn Law School at night while working full time. That education would have a profound effect on his approach to the practice of law. It was no longer an academic pursuit but rather an endeavor to resolve real problems with real, economic and practical solutions.
Over the course of his career, he has first-chaired well over 100 securities and employment arbitrations. His cases involved virtually every cause of action, every defense asserted and every compliance issue devised in the last three decades, including product related litigation and regulatory inquiries.
John’s current practice focuses on representing financial services firms because, as a former General Counsel for a local introducing broker, he understands the dynamics of a small firm and the financial pressures they face which changes the economics of litigation and its strategy.
