“Knowing and understanding our clients is the most important part of providing excellent legal counsel.  Subject matter expertise and litigation acumen are also very important, but these things matter little if a lawyer does not understand a client’s business philosophy, grasp its institutional culture and become intimately familiar with the products and services they provide.  The fact that I love digging into such details makes my job all the more rewarding.”

Stuart Roberts’s practice focuses primarily on the representation of employers in a broad range of litigation matters, including defense of cases under federal and state discrimination laws, wage and hour laws, workers' compensation, and other matters involving workplace injuries or toxic exposures.  Stuart also defends brokerage firms and financial institutions in securities related matters before FINRA, including employment disputes and customer complaints.

Stuart has successfully tried and arbitrated many cases and has obtained summary judgment in numerous others.  In addition, Stuart has represented employers in proceedings brought under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including OSHA's investigation of on-the-job accidents and fatalities.  He also routinely advises employers with regard to workplace policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws.

Away from the office, Stuart engages in his community through many charitable organizations, including Sunrise Rotary, the Birmingham Tip-Off Club and the Alabama Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, which honored Stuart as a member of its Leadership Class of 2008.  Stuart also enjoys coaching youth basketball and baseball.
