“My goal is to help my clients navigate through important issues during a critical time in their lives with practical advice and meaningful, cost effective solutions.”

Angela Scafuri’s practice focuses on commercial litigation and matrimonial issues.  For over a decade, she has assisted individual and corporate clients in both simple and complex matters with an eye toward resolution.  Results driven, Angela advocates for her clients’ best interests whether in the arena of alternative dispute resolution or litigation.  She is as comfortable in the courtroom as she is in a mediation setting, having appeared and argued cases at both the trial and appellate levels, and has successfully represented clients in federal courts throughout the country.

As a Principal of the firm, Angela devotes a substantial portion of her practice to family law issues.  Her background in insurance and commercial matters enhances her abilities in the family law arena, particularly as to sophisticated equitable distribution issues.  She assists her clients in all aspects of family law, including the treatment of joint marital assets and the protection of separate property, custody and parenting time issues, alimony and child support, domestic violence, and the drafting of separation and marital settlement agreements.

Complementing her litigation background, Angela is also a court appointed mediator for both family and civil matters, and is a trained Collaborative Law Attorney.  She is admitted to the roster of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases for several New Jersey counties including Morris, Essex, Somerset and Monmouth.  Angela is also admitted to the roster of Civil Mediators for the Superior Court of New Jersey for Morris, Essex, Somerset, Warren, Monmouth, Bergen and Passaic counties.  In addition, Angela serves as a Matrimonial Early Settlement Panelist for Morris County, and volunteers her time for both the New Jersey Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project of Morris County and the Morris County Family Law Self-Help Clinic for pro se litigants. She also devotes her time to our service men and women through the American Bar Association's Pro Bono Military Project.

Angela has been recognized by New Jersey Super Lawyers and New Jersey Monthly as one of the state’s top “Rising Stars” since 2009, and was recognized by her peers as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” by the New Jersey Law Journal in 2011.  She has been appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to the District XA Ethics Committee. Angela has also been appointed Vice Chair to the Family Section Executive Committee of the American Association for Justice for the 2017-2018 year.

Angela is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of topics, including family law, ethics and social media. Angela’s recent achievements include successfully assisting a United States Air Force Service Woman reunite with her son after the child was improperly removed to New Jersey from California, and dividing a pension on an Order to Show Cause basis, prior to discovery proceedings. She also successfully arbitrated a matter for a matrimonial client which resulted in an approximately $1 million dollar arbitration award between spousal maintenance and equitable distribution of marital property, where the other spouse claimed that the various business entities at issue were immune from equitable distribution.
