Bressler, Amery & Ross, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with national practice, seeks a Legal Assistant for its Insurance Defense Practice Group. Much of the focus is upon all areas of first-party coverage, including windstorm, fire, theft, water damage, sinkhole, and “collapse claims.”
Essential Responsibilities
- Assisting in reviewing and analyzing cases to determine their readiness for trial litigation.
- Organizing case files and documents.
- Case tracking and calendaring all necessary deadlines.
- Coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and any other event necessary.
- Manage attorney's calendar.
- Document production.
- Drafting simple pleadings including notices, subpoenas and motions.
- Electronic Fillings.
- Interacting with firm personnel, third-party witnesses, external vendors, outside counsel, and clients.
- Preparing standard form responses.
- Research case law to be submitted to the Court.
- Supporting other projects as needed.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Essential Skills
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years current legal assistant experience in insurance litigation.
- Experience with insurance defense/first party property claims.
- Experience with Florida E-Portal filing and Court Management System for all of Florida Circuit Courts required.
- Experience with Federal Court preferable.
Required Knowledge
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook; and document management system(s).
Essential Skills
- Strong proofreading and organizational skills.
- Able to manage multiple tasks.
- Team player: provide back-up support when available and as needed.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Salary range: $70,000 - $75,000. The salary range does not guarantee, obligate, nor set expectations of an applicant’s salary in the event of hire. Actual compensation will depend upon several factors, including, the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications and skill set.
