Bressler has long recognized that a diverse and inclusive workplace creates the synergy that leads to our success. We understand that our strength and achievements depend upon people with different insights, backgrounds, and experiences, and we strive to incorporate diversity and inclusion in our daily practices.
Our commitment to diversity begins with our people. Bressler supports and promotes all races, cultures, religions, nationalities, genders, sexual orientations and other qualities that make us unique. However, at Bressler, diversity and inclusion expand far beyond just our workforce. We embrace diversity in terms of the unique ideas, opinions, and perspectives each person brings to their position. We believe our culture of inclusion forges a collaborative work environment and creates our unity of purpose - serving our clients with the best, most creative, innovative and effective solutions to their business and legal challenges.
Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Our commitment to diversity is supported by our Diversity & Inclusion Committee, recruiting and promotion efforts, Equal Employment Opportunity policy, and our participation in community activities that promote inclusion. Bressler’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee is led by firm principals and includes team members of different backgrounds, ethnicities, and genders. The Committee develops and supports all of the firm’s diversity initiatives, tactics and programs, and oversees all efforts to fulfill Bressler’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
To complement the work of our Diversity & Inclusion Committee, firm attorneys are encouraged to participate in diverse professional and legal associations including the National Bar Association, the Garden State Bar Association, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, the Magic City Bar, the State Bar Diversity Committee, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Diversity Committee, the American Bar Association, New York Lawyers in Public Interest and Leading Edge Institute, all of which support diversity and inclusion efforts.
Committed to fostering diversity in the legal profession, Bressler is one of 120 law firm signatories of the New York Bar Association’s Statement of Diversity Principles, which affirms our pledge to achieve diversity targets through specific goal, initiatives and milestones.
Women's Initiatives
To further our promise to maintain a diverse and inclusive workforce, the firm established a Women’s Initiatives Committee that supports a variety of initiatives that are designed to continue our commitment to the advancement of women at Bressler. Representation by women in the firm’s senior and principal ranks continues to increase. Bressler’s Women’s Initiative Committee, comprised of women attorneys from different office locations, ages, and backgrounds, supports the professional growth of women both within our firm and in the communities where we live and work. The Committee addresses issues of importance to women at the firm, including improving the recruitment, retention, and advancement, and further increasing the representation of, women in leadership roles.
Business development and networking are hallmarks of the Committee’s efforts, facilitating opportunities for women to create business connections and develop their practices through mentoring, networking and social events, training, and client‐sponsored women and minority initiative events. Complementary to the firm's internal Women's Initiative Committee, several of the group's members collaborate with Marsh's Women's Executive Business to Business Network. Other womens organizations with which we are involved include Southeastern Women In Financial Services, New Jersey Women Lawyers, National Association of Women Lawyers, the Association of Professional Insurance Women, and Partners for Women and Justice.
Additionally, firm attorneys are encouraged to personally engage in community initiatives and civic organizations that support and stimulate their professional development. Our attorney’s activism includes First Light Homeless Shelter for Women and Children, Battered Women Legal Assistance Project, Deirdre’s House, Governor’s Counsel for Women, the New Jersey State Bar Diversity Committee, the American Bar Association, New York Lawyers in Public Interest, Leading Edge Institute, and the New Jersey Law and Education Empowerment Project, all of which promote women and minority initiatives.
