Overview

Kristen Turiano is a Principal in the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Insurance Litigation Practice Groups. She is an experienced litigator who represents businesses, insurance companies, financial institutions, product manufacturers, and other clients in complex civil litigation, with experience handling commercial disputes, coverage issues, product liability, and premises liability in both New Jersey and New York.

Before joining Bressler, Kristen served as Senior Counsel at Harris Beach Murtha Cullina PLLC, where she focused on mass torts, product liability, insurance coverage, and appellate matters. She previously practiced at several regional and national law firms, representing clients in matters involving general liability, construction defects, and New York Labor Law §§ 200, 240(1), and 241(6).

Kristen began her legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Janet Z. Smith. J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey (Civil Division). She also gained valuable experience as an Honors Law Clerk at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and a judicial intern at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Kristen earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was Managing Editor of the Georgetown Environmental Law Review.  She earned her B.A. from Georgetown University, where she graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and was a member of the Georgetown Government Honors Program.

Experience

Experience

  • Obtained summary judgment dismissing all claims against an insurance company client based on a proprietary employer’s/contractor liability exclusion in cases in both New Jersey and New York
  • Defended a manufacturing client against high-exposure product liability suits alleging that use of the manufacturer’s solvent caused various illnesses in cases nationally
  • Obtained a decision in the New York Appellate Division, First Department affirming that an insurance company client did not owe defense, indemnity, or coverage to an additional insured due to late notice
  • Part of an appellate team achieving victory for a social media company client in the New York Appellate Division, Fourth Department on a motion to dismiss, in a nationally-watched case regarding federal- and state- law limits on social media providers’ liability for third-party content hosted on their platforms
