Governor Andrew Cuomo named Shirin Emami as Acting Superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). Emami replaces Anthony Albanese, who in turn replaced Benjamin Lawsky. Lawsky served as Superintendent of NYDFS until June of 2015. Both Lawsky and Albanese left the State to rejoin the private sector.
Emami previously served as the Executive Deputy Superintendent and General Counsel of the Banking Division of NYDFS. Prior to government service, Emami served as in-house counsel to various large financial institutions.
