Overview

With 32 years of litigation experience, Joseph brings decades of experience to each client collaboration.  His unique ability to “see around corners” and anticipate an adversary’s moves simply comes with the territory. His approach begins by listening to his clients and appreciating their unique circumstances. He believes that precisely understanding the best interests of his clients and balancing them with the facts of any case imparts the surest path to success.

Joseph is a Wall Street veteran with roles as Associate General Counsel at Citigroup’s Smith Barney and as an Executive Director and senior member of the Wealth Management Client Litigation Group at Morgan Stanley where he oversaw the Early Dispute Resolution Group and was instrumental in the integration of Morgan Stanley’s private and mortgage banking institutions into the wealth management pre-litigation process.

Joseph began his career in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office rising through the ranks to join the prestigious Homicide Bureau where he spent nearly a decade trying complex murder cases before moving to Wall Street. He has tried over 45 homicide cases to verdict.

Joseph’s practice focuses on all aspects of securities and regulatory litigation, internal investigations, and regulatory reporting. He has represented clients in countless cases across the country and has tried in excess of 60 arbitrations to award.

Joseph’s clients range from individual registered representatives to some of the largest financial institutions in the country.

Joseph is an active FINRA arbitrator and an adjunct professor at St. John’s University Law School where he teaches trial advocacy. He is also the Chair of Bressler's Pro-Bono committee and a member if the firm’s Senior Investor Committee. He has lectured on: securities rules and regulations, criminal law and procedure, ethics for in-house and outside counsel, and most recently best practices in dealing with Senior and Vulnerable Investors. He is a consistent host and panel-member in Bressler’s many securities litigation webinars.
