BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (October 29, 2025) – Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. is proud to announce that it has been awarded the 2025 Volunteer Lawyers of Birmingham (VLB) Law Firm of the Year award. This recognition is a testament to the firm’s ongoing partnership with VLB and its commitment to supporting the organization's mission.
Bressler attorneys will be honored with the Law Firm of the Year award at the 2025 Breakfast of Champions, hosted on October 29, 2025, at the firm’s Birmingham office. The annual event recognizes law firms and volunteers who advance VLB’s mission through the Champions for Justice campaign. This year marks Bressler’s second time hosting the Breakfast of Champions. The event celebrates the dedicated volunteers who serve VLB’s clients throughout the year and honors individuals and organizations making significant contributions to ensuring access to justice in Birmingham.
With a long-standing culture of giving back, Bressler’s pro bono efforts demonstrate the firm's deep commitment to supporting underserved communities. For more than a decade, the firm has proudly called Birmingham home and continually dedicates its time and talent to improving access to justice for community members throughout Jefferson County.
Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Birmingham, Alabama. It provides civil legal aid to low-income residents and is funded by generous contributions from private foundations, law firms, local corporations, and individuals. The organization does not receive any direct funding from state or local government.
Bressler was selected for this pro bono honor in recognition of its longstanding commitment to supporting the VLB through both attorney volunteerism and organizational leadership. Several Bressler attorneys have played key roles in advancing VLB’s mission. Notably, Preston Martin, served on the VLB Board of Directors, taking on the roles of Vice President in 2023 and President in 2024. He provided steady leadership during a pivotal period, guiding the organization through significant structural changes.
Other Bressler attorneys, including Donald Winningham III,, who previously served on the VLB Board of Directors, as well as Jada Satchell, Jessica Bonds, Katie Wilson, Louis Mendez, David Donahue, Laura Pizzitola, and Sarah Hughes, who currently serves on the VLB's Junior Board, have also made substantial contributions. They have provided pro bono legal services by assisting at various help desks, legal clinics, and in extended representation matters for low-income and underserved residents of Birmingham.
