Florham Park, NJ (October 9, 2025) – Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. is proud to announce that it has been named a recipient of the 2025 New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Pillar of Justice Pro Bono Award for its dedication to providing pro bono legal services to those in need. The firm was nominated by Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ) for its work supporting veterans through VLJ’s Veterans Legal Wellness Clinics.

Bressler attorneys Katie Gannon and Karen Murphy will accept the Pillar of Justice Pro Bono Award at the 2025 NJSBA Pro Bono Awards Reception on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick.

Rooted in a long-standing culture of volunteerism, Bressler’s pro bono efforts reflect the firm’s deep commitment to supporting underserved communities, including veterans, who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation. In addition to its work with veterans, Bressler attorneys also routinely provide pro bono services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in conjunction with several non-profit organizations in New Jersey. For nearly 65 years, the firm has proudly called New Jersey home and continues to dedicate its time and talent to improving access to justice across the state.

Through the VLJ’s Veterans Legal Wellness Program, Bressler attorneys and staff partner with the legal department at BASF Corporation, a firm client, to provide veterans with critical legal assistance on a variety of issues that can stand in the way of stability and wellbeing.

Volunteers for the Veterans Legal Wellness clinics include Bressler attorneys Karen Murphy, Keith McManus, James Crowder, Benjamin DiLorenzo, Megan Cannella, Samantha Baccaro, Zachary Rosenberg, Edward Velky, Paola Toro, and David Schneider - along with program leader Katie Gannon. Volunteers conduct comprehensive legal intakes, identify key issues, and offer guidance on next steps to help veterans move forward. Common matters include driver’s license restoration, child support, criminal expungements, landlord-tenant disputes, estate planning issues and other challenges that affect veterans transitioning back to civilian life.

The NJSBA Pro Bono Awards honor attorneys and organizations whose exceptional volunteerism has made a measurable impact on access to justice for underserved communities in New Jersey. The Pillar of Justice Pro Bono Award specifically recognizes law firms that demonstrate significant and innovative contributions to advancing pro bono service, promote volunteerism among their attorneys, and take creative approaches to expanding access to justice.

“Supporting our veterans and giving back to the communities we serve are fundamental to who we are as a firm,” said Frederick K. Schoenbrodt, II, Managing Principal of the firm’s New Jersey office and a U.S. Army Veteran. “We are proud to partner with VLJ and BASF to help ensure New Jersey’s veterans receive the legal support and respect they deserve.”
